Obtain the owner's written consent (see Control Module Tuning form) for any requested repair - under warranty or outside warranty - that
requires flashing that will automatically overwrite the tuned program.

Update the ECM.

a.

If the vehicle has a tuned ECM or TCM, ensure the Control Module Tuning form has been filled out by the owner.

b.

Check the software part number and software level in the Engine Control Module. If software level is at (or higher than) the level shown in
New Software Version column of the table below, no update is necessary. See Warranty table.

c.

Prior to beginning the SVM process, insert a USB memory stick into the VAS 505X tester to capture the diagnostic log electronically.

d.

For A4 (B7) always use the 6017B K-Line Adapter to ensure communication to all modules.
