Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module
General Information
CAUTION.
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
‹› Switch off all electrical consumers.
‹› Switch the ignition off and remove ignition key.
‹› Disconnect negative ( - ) battery terminal.
‹› When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions
on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks as specified in
The Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527) forms part of the "steering column switch module ". The module consists of the
following:
‹› Left and right steering column switches
‹› Spiral spring
‹› Steering angle sender (G85)
‹› Ignition/starter switch (D)
‹› Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module ( J527)
The Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module (J527) is responsible for the exchange of data between the vehicle control modules (e.g.
Vehicle Electrical System Control Module (J519)), the steering column modules (e.g. steering column switches) and the steering wheel modules (e.g.
airbag).
In addition, the signals from the multifunction steering wheel buttons are processed and relayed via the CAN-Bus.
