Front Subframe: Removal and Replacement

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (VAG 1332)

‹› Engine/Transmission Jack (VAG 1383 A)

Removing

-

Remove wheels.

-

Remove diagonal brace if installed. Refer to => [ Diagonal Braces ] See: Rear Subframe/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Diagonal
Braces.

-

remove coil springs. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] See: Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf )/Service and Repair/Rear Suspension/Coil Spring.

Remove exhaust system rear muffler.

-

Disconnect and unclip the wires from the ABS speed sensor and connectors on vehicles with automatic headlamp range control.

-

Remove bolt - 2 - and washer - 1 -. 

The washer - 1 - is installed on vehicles with an aluminum wheel bearing housing.

-

Pry off the securing clip - 1 - for the brake cable.
