Front Subframe Mount: Service and Repair
Rear Suspension

Subframe Mount

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hollow Piston Cylinder (VAS 6179)

‹› Hydraulic Cylinder (VAS 6178)

‹› Engine/Transmission Jack (VAG 1383 A) with Universal Transmission Support (VAG 1359/2)

‹› Assembly Tool (T10263)

‹› Assembly Tool (T10205/13)

Removing Bonded Rubber Bushings

-

Remove rear wheels.

-

Remove coil springs. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] See: Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf )/Service and Repair/Rear Suspension/Coil Spring.

Remove exhaust system rear muffler.

-

Disconnect electrical wires to the Haldex clutch and the connectors on vehicles with automatic headlamp range control.

Remove stabilizer bar. Refer to => [ Stabilizer Bar ] See: Stabilizer Bar/Service and Repair/Rear Suspension/Stabilizer Bar.

Remove tie rods. Refer to => [ Tie Rod ] See: Steering/Tie Rod/Service and Repair/Rear Suspension.

Unclip electrical lines to upper transverse links.

CAUTION!
Before loosening subframe bolts, secure vehicle against tipping over (e.g. load luggage compartment with approximately 50 kg).

Place engine/transmission jack (VAG 1383 A) with universal transmission support (VAG 1359/2) below subframe and secure with strap.

Remove hex bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
