Engine Does Not Crank Intermittently

Customer states that intermittently either:

-

The engine will not crank.

-

Or nothing happens when trying to start engine.

This cranking condition will usually disappear if engine is simply restarted.

There are no DTCs associated with this condition.

Production Solution

Updated ECM software is installed starting with VIN 8P_6A073016

Service

Only perform this Technical Bulletin on affected vehicles showing the condition described above.

If diagnosis does not reveal a malfunction (for example: battery is discharged, etc.), reprogramming of the ECM is necessary.

If ECM Part No. is already 8P0 907 115 B and software data level is 0060 (or higher), update programming is NOT necessary.

"Update - Programming" CD Part No: 8P0 906 961 H, (packaged with Technical Bulletin, Group 24, number 05- 05, dated Oct. 28, 2005), has already
arrived at dealerships.
