The second technician keeps the drive axle from falling down.

-

Carefully press the drive axle out of the transmission.

-

Remove drive axle.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, noting the following: 

-

Replace gasket - 1 - on the transmission pins each time it is removed.

Replace circlip - 2 - on the transmission pins each time it is removed.

-

Grease all around the area of the transmission pin splines with approximately 2 g grease.

-

First install the drive axle on the transmission side.

-

Slide the joint piece with the drive axle onto the transmission pins until the circlip engages.

‹› Check drive axle in transmission for proper seating by pulling joint piece against resistance from circlip. When checking, only pull on the joint

piece and not on the drive axle.
