Measures to be taken in the event of temperature increase downstream of evaporator

Measures to be taken in the event of temperature increase downstream of evaporator
–  Use hose clamps up to 40 mm -3093- for example to pinch off the two coolant hoses between the engine and the heat exchanger of the air conditioning unit.
–  Repeat the cooling output test → Chapter.
–  Use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the air emerging from the left and right dash panel vents.
–  Compare your measured values to the measured values displayed (for the evaporator output temperature sender -G263-).
l  Difference of less than 3 °C between your measured temperatures and the measured value for the evaporator output temperature sender -G263- → "Guided fault-finding" function of vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051?

yes

no

–  Detach the hose clamps up to 40 mm -3093- from the two coolant hoses.
–  Check the evaporator output temperature sender -G263- for correct installation, as well as the electrical connections for contact resistance.
–  Check actuation and operation of the temperature flap control motor -V68- → Chapter.

–  Eliminate the cause of the incorrect measured value of the evaporator output temperature sender -G263-. Replace the sender if defective.
l  Actuation and operation of temperature flap control motor -V68- OK?

yes
–  Check operation of the temperature flaps in the air distribution housing responsible for the temperature increase → Chapter.
–  Replace the air distribution housing if necessary → Chapter.
–  Repeat the cooling output test → Chapter.

no
–  Eliminate the cause of the malfunction → "Guided fault-finding" function of vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 and → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
–  Repeat the cooling output test → Chapter.

  Note
On vehicles with manually controlled air conditioner, the temperature flaps for the left and right side are linked by way of the shaft.
