Removing and installing drive plate Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Clutch counterhold tool -VW 558- t  M8×45 hexagon bolt and two M10 hexagon nuts t  Depth gauge Removing

–  Secure clutch counterhold tool -VW 558- to the drive plate using a M8x45 hexagon bolt. Fit two M10 hexagon nuts between counterhold tool and drive plate. Position of counterhold tool: -A- when loosening; -B- when tightening Installing

–  Fit drive plate using washer with notches -1-. –  Fit new bolts -3- and tighten to 30 Nm.

–  Measure distance -a- at three points and calculate average value. t  Specification: 19.5...21.1 mm   Note Measurement is taken through the hole in the drive plate to the machined surface of the cylinder block. If the value is below specification:

–  Remove drive plate again and fit shim -2-. Re-tighten bolts -3- to 30 Nm. Tightening torque
