Separating centre and rear silencers
Separating centre and rear silencers
t  Vehicles with front-wheel drive only
t  The connecting pipe can be cut through at the cutting point provided in order to renew the centre and rear silencers separately.
t  The cutting point is marked by an indentation on the outside of the exhaust pipe.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Chain pipe cutter -VAS 6254-
Procedure
  WARNING
Wear safety goggles and protective clothing to avoid any risk of injury from sharp metal parts.
  W00-10229
–  Cut through exhaust pipe at the position marked -arrow 2- using chain pipe cutter -VAS 6254-.
–  Position clamp -4- at side marks when installing - arrows -1- and -3-.
  A26-0732
–  Install clamp so that the bolt ends do not protrude beyond bottom of clamp -arrow-.
l  Bolt connection faces to rear
–  Align the exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter.
