1 - Gasket
q   Renew
2 - Exhaust manifold
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
3 - Bracket
4 - Nut
q   23 Nm
q   Renew
q   Lubricate exhaust manifold studs with high-temperature paste. For high-temperature paste refer to → Electronic parts catalogue
5 - Heat shield
6 - Nut
q   23 Nm
7 - Lambda probe -G39- (before catalytic converter), 55 Nm
q   After renewing, erase learnt values and in → engine control unit, „Guided Functions“.
q   When re-using the old Lambda probe, grease thread with high-temperature paste -G 052 112 A3-; the paste must not get into the slots of the probe body.
8 - Front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter
q   Protect against knocks and impact
q   With flexible joint
q   Do not bend flexible joint more than 10° – otherwise it can be damaged
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter
9 - Lambda probe after catalytic converter -G130-, 55 Nm
q   The threads on the new Lambda probes are coated with a special assembly paste.
q   If re-installing old Lambda probe, coat thread with high-temperature paste: Refer to → Electronic parts catalogue for high-temperature paste
q   The assembly paste/high-temperature paste must not get into the slots on the probe body.
q   Removing and installing → Rep. gr.24
10 - Clamp (front)
q   Align exhaust system so it is free of stress before tightening clamp → Chapter
q   Installation position → Fig.
q   Tighten bolt connections evenly.
11 - Nut
q   23 Nm
12 - Rear tunnel cross-piece
13 - Nut
q   23 Nm
14 - Bolt
q   23 Nm
15 - Rubber mounting
q   Renew if damaged
16 - Clamp (rear)
q   For separate replacement of centre and rear silencers
q   Installation position → Chapter
q   Tighten bolt connections evenly.
17 - Nut
q   23 Nm
18 - Rubber mounting
q   Renew if damaged
19 - Rear silencer
q   Combined in one unit with centre silencer as original equipment. Can be renewed individually for repair purposes
q   Separating centre and rear silencers → Chapter
q   Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter
20 - Mounting
q   Renew if damaged
21 - Bolt
q   23 Nm
22 - Nut
q   23 Nm
23 - Front tunnel cross-piece
24 - Centre silencer
q   Combined in one unit with rear silencer as original equipment. Can be renewed individually for repair purposes
q   Separating centre and rear silencers → Chapter
q   Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter
25 - Mounting
q   Renew if damaged

q   Renew if damaged

Installation position of front clamp
–  When fitting clamp, make sure ends of bolts do not project below bottom of clamp -arrow-.
l  Bolt connection faces to right.
