1 - Bearing shell
q   For cylinder block (with oil groove)
q   Renew used bearing shells
2 - Spur gear
q   For balance shaft assembly
q   Pulling spur gear off crankshaft and shrink-fitting new spur gear → Chapter
3 - Bearing shell
q   For bearing cap (without oil groove)
q   Renew used bearing shells
4 - Thrust washers
q   For bearing No. 3
q   Different types for cylinder block and bearing cap
q   Note location
5 - Bolts
q   Renew
q   65 Nm + turn 90° further
6 - Bearing cap
q   Bearing cap 1: Pulley end
q   Bearing cap 3 with recesses for thrust washers
q   Installation position: retaining lugs on bearing shells in cylinder block and bearing caps must be on the same side
7 - Crankshaft
q   There should be no needle bearing fitted in the crankshaft on vehicles with manual gearbox; remove needle bearing if necessary → Chapter
q   A needle bearing must be fitted in the crankshaft on vehicles with dual-clutch gearbox; install needle bearing if not yet fitted → Chapter.
q   Measuring axial clearance → Chapter
q   Measuring radial clearance → Chapter
q   Crankshaft dimensions → Chapter
