Servicing drive shaft with 100 mm dia. inner constant velocity joint > < Loosening and tightening twelve-point bolt (without ribbing) securing drive shaft

Removing
–  Loosen bolt securing drive shaft.
Procedure for slackening bolt securing drive shaft → Chapter „Loosening and tightening hexagon bolt securing drive shaft“
Procedure for slackening bolt securing drive shaft → Chapter „Loosening and tightening twelve-point ribbed bolt securing drive shaft“
Procedure for slackening bolt securing drive shaft → Chapter „Loosening and tightening twelve-point bolt (without ribbing) securing drive shaft“
–  Remove wheel.
–  Remove coil spring → Chapter.
   
–  On vehicles with vehicle level sender, remove bolts -2-.
  A42-0447
–  Unscrew bolts securing track rod -1- and lower transverse link -3- from wheel bearing housing -4-.
  A42-0467
–  Unscrew bolt -2- and remove together with washer -1-.
Washer -1- installed on vehicles with aluminium wheel bearing housing.
–  Detach drive shaft from final drive.
–  Pivot wheel bearing housing outwards and pull drive shaft out of wheel bearing splines.
–  Take out drive shaft.
Installing
Installation is performed in reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Before fitting the outer joint in the wheel hub, apply a thin coat of assembly paste to the splines on the outer joint → Electronic parts catalogue.
Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view of subframe, lower transverse link, upper transverse link, track rod, vehicle level senders“
Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view of wheel bearing housing, wheel bearing unit, trailing arm with mounting bracket, stone deflector“
Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view of shock absorbers, coil springs“
Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view of anti-roll bar“
The bolted connections on the wheel bearing housing may only be tightened when the original distance between the wheel hub centre and the lower edge of the wheel housing (as measured before assembly) has been obtained → Chapter.
Tightening torque: (drive shaft flange joint at rear final drive) → Chapter „Servicing drive shaft with 100 mm dia. inner constant velocity joint“
Tightening torque: (drive shaft flange joint at rear final drive) → Chapter „Servicing drive shaft with 82 mm dia. outer constant velocity joint“
–  On vehicles with electronic damping control (Audi magnetic ride), re-adapt reference position → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Perform basic setting of headlights → Rep. gr.94.
