‹› If reusing brake pads, mark location. Install in same position when installing, otherwise uneven braking will occur!
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, with special attention to the following:
-
Clean brake caliper.
Clean brake caliper with mineral spirits exclusively.
-
Press piston back into caliper housing.
‹› Before inserting new brake pads, press the piston back into the cylinder using the piston resetting tool. Before pressing the piston back, draw off
brake fluid from the reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair
work.
CAUTION!
Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth using a hose!
-
Install brake pads, observing installation position:
‹› Pad with large three-finger clip - 1 - is for piston side.
‹› Pad with small three-finger clip - 2 - (colored black) is for outer side of brake caliper.
-
Mount brake caliper with brake pads onto wheel bearing housing, setting bottom in place first.
