Intake Manifold with Fuel Rail

=> [ Fuel Rail, Removing and Installing ] 

If fuel rail is removed or replaced, the intake manifold runner position sensor (G336) must be adapted to the engine control module (J623). Use the
vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5052) " Guided Functions".

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Assembly tool (T10118)

‹› Hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1921)

Removing

-

Remove engine cover.

‹› To access the fuel injectors, the intake manifold and the fuel rail with intake manifold runner control valve must be removed.

‹› The combustion chamber seal (Teflon) and the O-ring must always be replaced.

CAUTION!
Fuel system is under pressure! Fuel pressure must be reduced to a residual pressure before opening high pressure area of injection
system, see procedure => [ Before Opening High Pressure Fuel Injection System ] See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Fuel Pressure
Release/Service and Repair.

Disconnect battery at negative terminal.

-

Clean contact surface from intake manifold to cylinder head.

Remove air duct cover by disengaging slide clips - arrows  -.

-

Unclip lower air guide, to do so disengage clips - arrows  -.
