Front Subframe: Removal and Replacement

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (VAG 1332)

‹› Engine/Transmission Jack (VAG 1383 A)

Removing

‹› The vehicle must be resting on it wheels during any subsequent work where the drive axle bolt must be loosened. Depending on the bolt version.

Remove wheels.

-

Remove coil springs. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf )/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Rear Suspension/Coil Spring.

Remove exhaust system rear muffler.

-

Disconnect electrical wires to the Haldex clutch, ABS speed sensor and, on vehicles with a level control system sensor, the connectors.

Remove bolt - 2 - and washer - 1 -. 

The washer - 1 - is installed on vehicles with an aluminum wheel bearing housing.

Pry off securing clip - 1 - for the brake cable.
