Brake Caliper: Removal and Replacement

Brake Caliper

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹›  Brake pedal depressor (V.A.G 1869/2)

Removing

-

Remove brake pads => [ Brake Pads ] See: Disc Brake System/Brake Pad/Service and Repair.

Install brake pedal loading device (V.A.G 1869/2 ) between brake pedal and driver seat. Depress brake pedal a minimum of 60 mm.

‹› By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.

Connect hose of a bleeder bottle to bleeder screw of removed brake caliper.

-

Open bleeder screw.

-

Do not remove brake pedal loading device (V.A.G 1869/2).

-

Remove brake hose from brake caliper.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, with special attention to the following:

Install brake pads => [ Brake Pads ] See: Disc Brake System/Brake Pad/Service and Repair.

Bleed brake system: ABS/ESP Mark 60/ ABS Mark 70=> [ Brake System, Bleeding ] See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair/Brake System,
Bleeding.
