Brake Caliper: Removal and Replacement

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Brake pedal depressor (V.A.G 1869/2)

Removing

If reusing brake pads, mark location. Reinstall in same position, otherwise uneven braking will occur.

-

Remove wheels.

-

Pry off securing clip - 1 - for brake cable.

-

Press brake lever - 2 - in direction of -  arrow - and unhook parking brake cable - 3 -.

-

Remove brake caliper housing, while counter-holding on guide pins. 

-

Suspend brake caliper housing using bundling wire.

‹› Do not twist or kink brake hose line.

Remove brake pads and brake pad retaining springs - arrows  -.
