Replacement Airbag Wiring Harness, Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095)
‹› Fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136)
‹› A repair with the replacement wiring harness is only possible on old side airbag modules with a connector directly on the airbag module. The new
side airbag modules do not have a connector in this location. They are equipped with a continuous wiring harness. Refer to => [ Side Airbag Cable
Guide, New Version ] See: Front Side Airbag, Servicing.
‹› The replacement airbag wiring harness has the following part number: 8P0 998 998 A.
‹› With the replacement airbag wiring harness, the connector under the seat or under the backrest cover is omitted.
‹› On the individual seat types, the series production wiring set on the airbag side may run from the seat pan to the backrest.
‹› The replacement airbag wiring harness must always run on the opposite side of the airbag module from the seat pan to the backrest.
‹› Depending on equipment, it is possible that different wiring connectors may be needed. Use suitable fastening methods to secure these against all
types of damage to the seat frame - the empty housing for securing the connector is included in the delivery package.
‹› The felt for edge protection of the replacement airbag wiring harness is included in the repair set and must be cut to the appropriate size.
‹› During all assembly work, ensure wiring is always routed correctly. The risk of damaging wires and wire connectors by crushing or rubbing must
be avoided!
