Passive Occupant Detection System

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components and the seat occupied recognition system. Refer to=> [ Passenger Occupant

Detection System Safety Precautions ] See: Service Precautions. 

‹› Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static

electricity ". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

CAUTION!
The replacement part (service kit) for the seat occupied recognition system is already precalibrated and must not be separated under any
circumstances. The service kit consists of:

‹› Passive Occupant Detection System Control Module -J706

‹› Passive Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor -G452

‹› Passive Occupant Detection System Mat

‹› Seat cushion

‹› Wiring harness between the passive occupant detection system control module -J706 and passive occupant detection system pressure

sensor -G452. 

Removing

-

Move the seat height adjustment to the center position.

-

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off.

Remove passenger seat:

‹› Power seat => [ Power Seat ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Power Front Seats

Secure the seat on the fixture for seat repair ( VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on VAS 6136 ] See: Body and
Frame/Seats/Description and Operation/Front Manual Seats.

Remove backrest:

‹› Power seat => [ Power Seat ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Power Front Seats

Remove cover with upholstery from seat pan. Refer to => [ Seat Pan Cover and Cushion ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and
Repair/Overhaul/Front Seat Covers and Cushion.

Using a narrow screwdriver, carefully press the seat occupied recognition pressure sensor (G452) - item 4 - off the bracket - arrow -.
