Front Side Airbag Crash Sensor

Removing and installing

CAUTION:

-

Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

-

Follow the safety precautions for front side airbag crash sensors (pressure sensors).

-

Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. connecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static
electricity". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Bolt - 5 Nm

Crash sensor for front side airbag
-

Driver side: Driver-side side airbag crash sensor G179

-

Passenger-side: Passenger-side side airbag crash sensor G180

Removing
-

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition off.

-

Remove door trim.

-

Disconnect electrical connector - 4 - on crash sensor.

-

Remove bolts - 1 - and - 3 -.

-

Remove crash sensor for front side airbag.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

NOTE:
-

For proper crash sensor (pressure sensor) function, ensure door does not leak.

-

All components (e.g. cover, speaker, door trim) must be installed correctly.

-

The door trim clips seal the system. Replace door trim clip if necessary.
