Heater Control Module

‹› A/C system functions (A/C Control Module (J301)), refer to Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault

Finding"

‹› Activation of Engine Control Module -ECM- (in vehicles with gasoline direct fuel injection engine "FSI" and/or with an engine with

diagram-mapped cooling, refer to => [ Engine Control Module, Activating ] See: Testing and Inspection/Engine Control Module, Activating

‹› Beginning with MY 2010, a Start/Stop System is offered as an option on certain engines. The Heater Control Module (J65) has no affect on the

Start/Stop function on vehicles with only a heater (no "A/C"). If the vehicles has a manual climate control system, then, depending on the setting
on the A/C Control Module ( J301) (for example, the heater is on) the Stop function will prevent the engine from being started again as soon as
there is a request for heating. The (J301) Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 under "Guided Fault Finding" does not
limit the Stop function when the cooling mode is on.

‹› There is no additional coolant pump for the Start/Stop System installed on vehicles with Start/Stop System. Depending on the vehicle engine, an

electrical coolant pump may be installed, which is controlled by the engine control module.  Refer to => See: Engine, Cooling and

‹› If the vehicle has a Start/Stop System and a manual climate control system, then install A/C Control Module (J301), part number 8P0 820 047,

starting with index "D".
