When installing a new Airbag Control Module ( J234), a new cover must be bonded on.
‹› Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
CAUTION!
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (e.g. airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly, they may
deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
‹› If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
‹› After exchanging the Airbag Control Module (J234 ) it must be coded in "Guided Fault Finding".

Airbag Control Module Cover

With a new airbag control module - 1 -, a new cover - 2 - must be bonded on.
-
Bond on cover - 2 - with markings - 3 - congruent to control module edges.
Coil Connector with Slip Ring
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
‹› Drill 2.5 mm dia.; length at least 75 mm
Removing

Pull steering wheel with adjuster all the way out and adjust downward.

Remove steering wheel.
