Electromechanical Steering Gear

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Ball Joint Puller (3287 A)

‹› Torque Wrench (VAG 1331)

‹› Torque Wrench (VAG 1332)

‹› Engine/Transmission Jack (VAG 1383 A)

Removing

-

Disconnect battery.

-

Remove nuts - arrows - and remove foot well trim. 

-

Remove bolt - 1 - and remove the universal joint -  2 - from the steering gear.

-

Remove front wheels.

-

Loosen tie rod end nut, but do not remove yet.

-

Press tie rod end off of wheel bearing housing using ball joint puller (3287 A).
