Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming: Service and Repair
Deactivating

Deactivating

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A

-

Remove rear seat bench: Vehicles through 10.04, vehicles from 11.04.

NOTE:  The left and right side airbags can only be switched off together. It is not possible to switch side airbags off individually.

There is one harness connector at left and right by the "C-pillar".

-

Press catch - 2 - and disconnect connector - 1 - in - direction of arrow -.

-

Secure loose connectors with cable ties.

Vehicles without head-level airbag as of model year 2003>

-

Remove rear wheelhousing trim.

-

Disconnect harness connector to crash sensors at C-pillar.

-

Install rear wheelhousing trim.

-

Install rear seat bench.
