If specified value is obtained:

Checking voltage supply

Connect e.g. V.A.G 1527 B voltage tester as follows:

Harness connector

Measure to

Terminal

2

Engine Ground (GND)

-

Switch ignition on.
-

LED must light up.

-

Switch ignition off.

If LED does not light up:

-

Check wire connection from terminal 2 of harness connector via fuse to Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply Relay -J271- for
open circuit according to wiring diagram:
-

Specified value: Wire resistance max 1.5 Ohm

-

If necessary, repair wire connection.

If voltage supply is OK:

Checking control wire

Connect test box to wiring harness of Engine Control Module (ECM). ECM is not connected.  See: Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing

Check the following wire connections for open circuit according to wiring diagram:
