Passive Occupant Detection System (PODS)

Passive Occupant Detection System (PODS), Removing And Installing

CAUTION:  Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
The replacement part (service kit) for the seat occupied recognition system is already precalibrated and must not be separated under any
circumstances. The service kit consists of:

-

Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module -J706

-

Seat Occupied Recognition Pressure Sensor -G452

-

Seat Occupied Recognition Mat

-

Seat cushion

-

Wiring harness between Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module -J706 and Seat Occupied Recognition Pressure Sensor G452.

NOTE:  The seat occupied recognition system is only equipped on the front passenger seat.

Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module -J706

-

Removing

-

Disconnect the battery ground (GND) strap.

-

Remove the passenger seat.

-

Mount the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 on the engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.

-

Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.

-

Remove the backrest.

-

Disconnect connector - 6 -.

-

Remove bolts - 2 - (Qty. 2).

-

Remove cover upholstery, for power seat.

-

Open the guide clip - 8 -.

CAUTION:  Connectors - 3 - and - 7 - must not be separated.

-

Slide pressure sensor -G452- - 4 - along the side of the bracket - 9 -.
