Passenger Side Airbag, Assembly Overview

WARNING:  Observe safety precautions for working on airbags.

Passenger-side airbag unit

See Cautions before beginning repairs on electrical system

Removal
-

Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.

-

Remove glove compartment

-

Remove glove compartment (vehicles with knee bolster)

Disconnect harness connector behind airbag unit =>Fig 1

WARNING:  Harness connector -5- (red, 2-pin) to passenger-side airbag unit must not be disconnected under any circumstances!

Remove brace behind airbag unit -2-(2x).

-

Remove nut -3- (4x).

-

Remove airbag unit.

-

Place airbag unit on a suitable surface with impact padding facing up.

Installing
-

Install airbag unit.

-

Make sure connector behind airbag unit completely (audibly) engages.

-

Switch on ignition.

WARNING:  No person may be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
