Unscrew collared bolt -1-.

-

Unbolt splash plate -3-.

Front wheel drive vehicles
-

Remove wheel bearing unit -2-.

Further procedure for all vehicles

Unbolt speed sensor -2-.

-

Mark position of eccentric bolt -1- on top of hub carrier/wheel bearing housing.

-

Unfasten bolted joints.
Sequence: item 5, item 3, item 4, item 1

Remove hub carrier or wheel bearing housing.

Note:  Pry off carefully in case of all wheel drive vehicles.

Installing
Pay particular attention to the following on installation: 
Note:  Replacing bolts and self-locking nuts.

Front wheel drive vehicles
-

Install a new wheel bearing unit.

Further procedure for all vehicles
-

Initially tighten bolts -1-, -3-, -4-, -5- to 20 Nm only.

-

Tighten bolts of speed sensor -2- to 10 Nm.

Bolt splash plate and brake caliper to hub carrier or wheel bearing housing. C38; Servicing brake caliper
