Seal For Front Final Drive, Replacing

Seal for front final drive, replacing 

Special tools and equipment

VAG 1383 Engine/transmission jack with VAG 1359/2 Plate

Additional information 

Removing 

-

Remove front exhaust system with catalytic converter.

-

Remove heat shield for selector lever cable, if installed.

-

Remove center differential.

-

Remove bolts (arrows) at intermediate flange for front final drive.

WARNING:

Slowly and carefully remove cover for front final drive/intermediate flange from transmission housing. The spur gears can otherwise fall out of
the transmission.

Do not reinstall spur gears that have fallen to the ground. The transmission must be swapped in this case.

Lift off cover i.e. intermediate flange for front final drive.

Notes:  
^

Do not remove spur gears for front final drive. Secure spur gears so they do not fall out.

If the spur gears for front final drive were removed, the wheel marking must face outward (away from transmission) for re installation.
