Selector Shaft Oil Seal, Replacing

Selector shaft oil seal, replacing 
Special tools and workshop equipment required

Tube VW 418 A

Removing

Transmission removed.

^

Remove bolt -B- and lift off selector shaft lever -A-.

^

Carefully pry out selector shaft oil seal using a screwdriver or a flat chisel.

Note:  Take care not to damage sealing surface and selector shaft.

Installing 

Install in reverse sequence, note the following points:

Lightly lubricate outer circumference of new oil seal with ATF.

^

Slide new oil seal onto selector shaft as far as it will go.

^

Drive oil seal home onto seat using thrust piece VW 418 A.
