Inner CV joint, servicing

Disassembling inner CV joint
-

Clamp drive axle into vise.
Use protective jaws for vise for this.

-

Pry off locking cap e.g. using a screwdriver.

Removing sealing ring (arrow)

Drive off cap from CV boot using a brass or copper mandrel
Tensioning clamp must not be loosened.

Remove securing ring

-

Press off inner constant velocity joint using special tools shown in illustration.

-

Pull CV boot for inner constant velocity joint from shaft.

Installing inner constant velocity joint
-

Apply sealant -hatched surface- onto clean inner surface of cap for CV boot.
Sealant bead: continuous, 2 to 3 mm diameter
