A/T Controls - Shudder On Acceleration

37 08 23

2018758/2

December 16, 2008.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 08-10 dated October 2, 2008 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

37 Vehicle shudders when accelerating from a standstill - TCM flash

Condition

Vehicle shudders when accelerating from a stationary position, sometimes with fluctuating engine speed.

Technical Background

When closing the forward clutch, the friction value on the clutch plate linings is too high. When the clutch is closed with a high friction value (i.e. the
plate linings stick together), the clutch pressure is immediately reduced in connection with the active clutch control to maintain comfort by allowing
clutch slip. This control cycle is performed several times and leads to juddering.

Production Solution

Improved software.
