Side Air Bag: Locations

Side Airbag (electric Seat), Assembly Overview

CAUTION:  Observe safety precautions for repairs to airbag and side airbags.

1. Side airbag drivers/front passengers

Removing
-

Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.

-

Remove seat.

-

Attach fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 to engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.

-

Attach front seat to fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.

-

Remove backrest cover panel.

-

Release sealing collar - 4 -.

-

Remove wiring harness - 5 - upward.

-

Remove nuts - 2 - (2x) of side airbag -1 -.

-

Pry off metal tab - 3 -.

-

Remove side airbag -1 -.

-

Remove clip - 6- and carefully remove wiring harness - 5-.

-

Installing
-

Installation is in reverse order of removal.

-

Make sure wiring harness - 5 - runs between seat frame and plastic guide - 7 - and that cables are not subject to strain.

-

Fasten clip - 6 -.

-

Switch ignition on.

CAUTION:  There must be no one in the vehicle when the battery is being connected.

-

Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.
