Tightening clamp on inner joint

Removing outer CV joint from drive axle

Clamp drive axle in vise using jaw protectors.

-

Remove large clamp and pull back CV boot.

-

Using a hammer and a copper or brass drift, drive off inner ring of constant velocity joint.

Ventilating CV joint boot

Only applies to rubber CV boots

Note:

Installing the CV boot can create a vacuum in the joint. This vacuum pulls a fold inward when the vehicle is driven - arrow -. Therefore, before
tightening the clamp, raise the edge of the boot to allow the pressure to equalize.

Installation positions of spacer ring and dished washer (outer end of shaft)
