Additional safety precautions for roll-over protection system
Additional safety precautions for roll-over protection system
t  Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
t  Always disconnect power supply when working on roll-over protection system.
t  Roll-over bar must always be in extended position when removing and installing. Roll-over bar can be extended using the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051 A-. → Refer to Guided Fault Finding, body, general body repairs, 01 systems with self-diagnosis capability, airbag, airbag functions, control unit for airbag final control diagnosis.
t  Following retraction, there must be approx. 1-2 mm clearance beneath the roll-over bar.
t  There must not be anybody in the vicinity of the roll-over bar (safety distance approx. 1 m) when performing the final control diagnosis.
t  There must not be anyone in the vicinity of the roll-over bar (safety distance approx. 1 m) when connecting the battery.
t  Roll-over bar must always be installed immediately after removal from transportation container.
t  The roll-over bars must never be left unattended.
t  Following removal, roll-over bar must be stored in horizontal position.
t  Never dismantle or repair roll-over bar. Always use new components.
t  Do not re-install a roll-over bar which has been dropped onto a hard surface or shows signs of damage (particularly at solenoid switch).
t  All damaged components must be renewed after an accident. Roll-over bar can be re-used if it does not show any signs of damage. Check operation of roll-over bar with vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051 A-. → Refer to Guided Fault Finding, body, general body repairs, 01 systems with self-diagnosis capability, airbag, airbag functions, control unit for airbag final control diagnosis.
t  When performing the final control diagnosis, the flap for the roll-over bar must have been clipped in and there must not be any objects lying on the flap.
t  Do not carry out repair work on the lid of the convertible roof compartment in the area of the flap or at the flap for the roll-over bar.
t  When installing, fit the necessary spacers.
t  Always remove the roll-over bars when performing body repairs in the area of the roll-over bars.
t  After performing body repairs in area of roll-over bar, check body for weld spatter, deformation and abrasion by comparing to opposite side.
