t  At the factory (as-delivered condition for replacement part), the encoding for the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- is currently “00000”.
t  The encoding of the vehicle version sets the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- to the different models:
t  The “basic configuration” is applicable to the Saloon, Avant and Coupe.
t  On the Cabrio, the heated rear window function is differently configured, the control characteristic curve accordingly modified and, with the convertible top open, control action is implemented via the vent temperature senders (left vent temperature sender -G150-, right vent temperature sender -G151- etc.).
t  If the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- is encoded for a vehicle with heated windscreen -Z2- as optional extra, diagnosis and the heated windscreen actuation function are enabled.
t  If the operating and display unit, Climatronic control unit -J255- is encoded for a vehicle with “sun roof with solar cells” (solar cells -C20-) as optional extra, the following settings are currently made on the air conditioner unit after switching off the ignition:
–  Both the temperature flap control motors (left temperature flap control motor -V158- and right temperature flap control motor -V159-) are set to the “cold” position.
–  The central flap control motor -V70- is set to the “air to dash panel vents” position and the defroster flap is closed by way of the defroster flap control motor -V107- (air to footwell).
