The fuel for the auxiliary heater is drawn in from the fuel tank by way of the connection -A-, the corrugated pipes -B- and -C- and the suction pipe -D- in the area adjacent to the suction pipe of the suction jet pump -E-.
  Note
t  There are different versions of the fuel delivery unit depending on engine type (this illustration shows the version for vehicles with 4-cyl. TDI engine → Fuel supply system; Rep. Gr.20 and → Parts List.
t  To permit removal of the fuel delivery unit (and the suction jet pump), the suction pipe consists of two parts connected in the area of the fuel pump by way of a coupling -F-. → Fuel supply system; Rep. Gr.20
t  On vehicles manufactured up to 01.03 (with a riser attached to the fuel delivery unit), problems with the supply of fuel to the auxiliary heater can be rectified by converting the fuel diversion system → Chapter.
