t  Engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A-
Removing
  W00-0120
–  If fitted, loosen quick-release fasteners -3- and remove rear noise insulation -B-.

–  Disconnect exhaust system at clamps -arrows-.
  A26-0535
–  Use engine and gearbox jack -V.A.G 1383 A- to lift gearbox up slightly. Insert a wooden block -1- between gearbox and gearbox jack.

–  First remove bolts -3- and then bolts -2- at tunnel cross member.
–  Lower gearbox slightly.
–  Unscrew the two nuts -1- and push tunnel cross member backwards slightly.

–  Unscrew gearbox mounting -arrows-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:
  A34-0436
–  Secure gearbox mounting to gearbox -arrows-.
  A34-0436
–  Bolt tunnel cross member onto gearbox mounting -1-.
–  Lift gearbox far enough to be able to fit bolts -2-.
–  Bolt tunnel cross member to body. First install bolts -2- and then bolts -3-.
–  Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Rep. Gr.26.

l  1) Always renew bolt with washer
l  2) 90° is equivalent to a quarter turn
