Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Drip tray
t  Safety goggles
  Note
t  Rules for cleanliness when working on the automatic gearbox → Chapter.
t  Thoroughly clean all joints and connections and the surrounding areas before dismantling.
Removing
–  Mark position of all ATF cooling pipes in relation to one another with different colours to avoid confusion.
–  Place drip tray -V.A.G 1306- underneath.
  WARNING
Wear safety goggles.
–  Disconnect ATF cooling pipes.
–  Seal opened cooling pipes with clean sealing plugs.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:
–  Clean ATF pipes → Chapter.
–  Renew O-rings and lubricate them lightly with ATF.
–  First push ATF pipes into gearbox or cooler by hand onto stop, then secure pipes → Chapter „Exploded view - ATF cooling pipes on vehicles with 4.2 ltr. MPI engine“.
–  Check ATF level → Chapter.
