Removing and installing bracket for ancillaries Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Pin wrench -3212- Removing   Caution Observe notes on procedure for disconnecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27. –  Disconnect earth wire at battery with ignition switched off. –  Drain off coolant → Chapter.

–  Pull dipstick -1- out of guide tube. –  Unclip cover caps. –  Unscrew nuts -arrows- and detach engine cover panel. –  Remove insulation beneath cover panel (if fitted). –  Re-insert dipstick in guide tube.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Remove air ducts -1- and -2-.

–  To slacken the poly V-belt, turn the tensioner in the direction of the -arrow-. –  Remove poly V-belt from alternator pulley.   Note The air conditioner poly V-belt remains fitted.

–  Counterhold viscous fan pulley using pin wrench -3212- and unbolt viscous fan from bearing using an 8 mm hexagon key -item 1-. –  Detach viscous fan from bearing and lay it forwards in radiator cowl.

–  Unscrew wire -1- at alternator. –  Unplug electrical connector -2-. –  Move wiring clear.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Remove alternator.

–  Remove the bottom coolant hose from hose connection at thermostat -2-. –  Unscrew bolts -1- for hose connection and remove hose connection with O-ring -3- and thermostat -4-.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2- and remove poly V-belt tensioner.

–  Unbolt pulley for power steering pump -arrows-; counterhold on pulley with drift.

–  Unbolt power steering pump -arrows- and tie up to one side. Leave pipes connected.

–  Remove bolts -1 ... 6-. –  Remove bracket for ancillaries. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew O-ring. t  When installing, pay attention to dowel sleeve at top right between bracket and cylinder block. –  First tighten bolts in the sequence -1 ... 6- hand-tight, then tighten to specified torque. –  Install power steering pump → Rep. Gr.48. –  Install thermostat connection together with thermostat → Chapter. –  Install alternator → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27 –  Install viscous fan → Chapter. –  Install poly V-belt → Anchor. –  Fill cooling system → Anchor. –  Observe notes on procedures required after connecting battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27. Tightening torques
