Removing and installing coolant pipe (rear) Removing   Note All cable ties which are released or cut open when removing must be fitted in the same position when installing. –  Remove coolant pipe (right-side) → Chapter. –  Move wiring clear of crankcase breather hose.

–  Remove crankcase breather hose -arrows-.

Vehicles with multitronic gearbox 01J or automatic gearbox 01V: –  Disconnect vacuum line leading to brake servo -arrows-.

All vehicles: –  If fitted, remove heat shield for electrical connections from bulkhead (left-side). –  Detach coolant hose -4-. –  Unscrew bolts -2- and nut -5-, and detach secondary air pipe. –  Disconnect vacuum hose -3- leading to combination valve for secondary air system. –  Unscrew bolts -1- and take off combination valve for secondary air system. –  Detach coolant hose -6-.   Note Shown in illustration with engine removed.

–  Unplug electrical connector -2- at coolant temperature display sender -G2-/coolant temperature sender -G62-. –  Unscrew power steering hydraulic pipe at coolant pipe (rear) -1-. –  Unscrew retaining clamps for wiring harness at coolant pipe (rear). –  Move wiring clear of rear coolant pipe.

–  Remove bolts -1- and -2-. –  Pull coolant pipe off towards rear. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew gaskets, seals and O-rings. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. –  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required. –  Lubricate new O-ring with “G12+” and slide onto coolant pipe. –  Install coolant pipe (right-side) → Chapter. –  Fill cooling system → Anchor. Tightening torques
