Body Self-diagnosis
Self-diagnosis of airbag system BTU (Basic Triggering Unit) with and without side airbag
Final control diagnosis as of week 18.99.

The final control diagnosis checks the function of the crash output. When the airbags are triggered, the central locking system switches immediately to UNLOCK, the internal central locking switch is disabled, and the fuel supply is interrupted. The hazard warning lights and the interior lights are switched on.

Notes:

  • ◆ Before carrying out the final control diagnosis, the central locking system must be switched to "close" (press the internal switch) and the engine started.
  • ◆ Switch interior light switch to position "door contact".
  • ◆ After the Final Control Diagnosis, the central locking controls are not active until the fault memory of CL control unit has been erased.

Signal: Open central locking system

The engine must switch off.

Central locking must switch to "open".

The hazard warning lights and interior lights come on.

  • ‒ Press the internal switch. The central locking system must not switch back to "lock".

Notes:

After this step has been performed, fault code 01366 will be stored in the CL control unit.

After completing the final control diagnosis the fault memory of the CL control unit must be read and this fault must be erased => Page01-72.

After this step has been performed, several faults will be stored in the fault memory of the engine control unit.

After completing the final control diagnosis the fault memory of the engine control unit must be read and this fault must be erased. Refer to ignition and injection in the Workshop Manual in Repair Group: 01 Self-diagnosis; erasing and interrogating fault memory.

According to engine type, the fuel supply shuts off as of week 18.99 onwards.

If the engine does not start, check whether the fuel supply shut off in the engine has been activated.
