Removing an intact rear window
 
A64-0028
  • ‒ Remove tailgate interior trims

=> General Body Assembly; Repair group 70

  • ‒ Remove rear window wiper

=> Electrical System; Repair group 92

  • ‒ → Open tailgate and use handle -1- to guide trimming needle beneath sealing lip and pierce adhesive bead.
  • ‒ Unscrew handle and insert cutting thread in eye of needle.
  • ‒ Pull one end of cutting thread into interior of vehicle; use pliers and wear gloves.

  • ‒ Detach sealing lip from window flange with plastic wedge and spray with cleaning fluid D 009 401 04 (lubricant substitute).
  • ‒ → Place other end of cutting thread around window using the insertion tube.

  • ‒ → Pull second end of cutting thread -B- into interior of vehicle as shown using trimming needle and handle.
  • ‒ Insert end of cutting thread -A- in winding device V.A.G 1654 and secure.

  • ‒ → Attach end of cutting thread -B- to tailgate hinge.
 
A64-0023
  • ‒ → Fasten winding device V.A.G 1654 to rear window as shown.
  • ‒ Press cutting thread in direction of arrow while cutting along side of window.
  • ‒ Cut out window at the bottom.

 
A64-0024
  • ‒ → Move winding device and cut out window.
  • ‒ Press cutting thread in direction of arrow while cutting along -bottom of window-.
  • ‒ Cut out window at the side.
 
A64-0025
  • ‒ Move reel and cut out window.
  • ‒ → Press cutting thread in direction of arrow while cutting along side of window.
  • ‒ Cut out window at the top.

 
A64-0026
  • ‒ Move reel and cut out window.
  • ‒ → Press cutting thread in direction of arrow while cutting along top of window.
  • ‒ Completely cut out window and remove from tailgate using double suction cups V.A.G 1344.
