Airbag safety precautions
Additional safety precautions for head airbag
  • ◆ The head airbags are subject to the same safety precautions as the driver's and front passenger's airbags.
  • ◆ Before installing a visual check for damage on the trims must be carried out.
  • ◆ Repairs of the trims (trim pillars upper A, upper B, upper C and trim D-pillar) are not permitted.
  • ◆ When installing, ensure that trims are fitted securely.
  • ◆ The head airbag module may only be bent at its intended position (Transition roof to A-pillar).
  • ◆ When carrying out repairs behind the head airbag always remove complete module.
  • ◆ Always carry removed head airbag module folded up.
  • ◆ Store removed head airbag module in transport container or on a clean, even surface (put down on blanket or in luggage compartment).
  • ◆ After body repairs in the vicinity of the head airbag the body must be checked for welding splashes, deformation or abrasion (compare to opposite side).
  • ◆ Always hold head airbag module securely.
  • ◆ Always fold removed head airbag module -1- and grasp at gas generator (thumb direction of E-connection).
  • ◆ Always keep one hand on the gas generator.
  • ◆ Do not twist, turn, knot, throw, pull, hang, pinch, press or clamp head airbag module.
  • ◆ If contamination such as oil, grease, paint and solvents is absorbed into fabric always replace module.
