Removing and installing front seat backrest

  • ‒ Remove seat
  • ‒ Remove seat side panel
  • ‒ Vehicles with side airbag: Remove side airbag plugs =>Page 72-18
  • ‒ On vehicles with seat heaters: Remove backrest heating connectors =>Page 72-20
  • ‒ Vehicles with lumbar support: Remove lumbar support connectors

Note:

The number of the cable depends on the model.

Cushioning element -2- does not have to be detached, it forms part of backrest frame.

  • Backrest
  • ◆ Removing
    • ‒ Unscrew the screws -3- (4x) and remove the washers (2x).
    • ‒ Tilt backrest forwards -1-.
    • ‒ Disengage the tabs -4- (2x).
    • ‒ Pull out the wiring -5-, -6- and -7-.
    • ‒ Take off backrest -1- upwards.

  • ◆ Installing
Important
When routing the cable, ensure that the wiring cannot be chafed by any moving parts.
    • ‒ Installation is in reverse order.
    • ‒ Route the side airbag cable -5- over the fitting for the folding backrest.
    • ‒ Route the cable for the backrest heater -6- under the fitting for the folding backrest.
    • ‒ Route the cable for the lumbar support -7- under the fitting for the folding backrest.

    • ‒ Tightening torque 27 Nm
