Note:

Removing and installing of moulded headliner and sun visors is the same in vehicles with or without head airbags.

• Moulded headliner

• ◆ Removing moulded headliner:
• ‒ Remove upper A-pillar trim

• ‒ Detach left wiring harness to moulded headliner from A-pillar A to dash panel.
• ‒ Remove upper B-pillar trim => Page 70-86
• ‒ Remove upper C-pillar trim => Page 70-105
• ‒ Remove upper D-pillar trim => Page 70-106
• ‒ Remove rear roof frame trim
• ‒ Detach connector with an automatic anti-glare interior rear-view mirror.
• ‒ Remove sun visors -2-.
• ‒ Remove brackets -5- for sun visors.
• ‒ Remove centre sun visor -6-.
• ‒ Lever out cover frame -6- on models with sliding/tilting roof.
• ‒ Remove cover for moulded headlining cut-out and reading lamp => Fig.: 1

• ‒ Remove roof grab handles => Fig.: 2
• ‒ Remove partition grille trim eyelets => Fig.: 3
• ‒ Remove rear interior light.
• ‒ Detach all door seals in area of moulded headliner.
• ‒ Remove rear interior light.
• ‒ Position gear lever or selector lever to rearmost position.
• ‒ Tilt backrest of passenger's seat to rearmost position.
• ‒ Tilt backrest of driver's seat to rearmost position.
• ‒ A second person is required to support the moulded headliner.
• ‒ Detach velcro fastening -12- from roof.
• ‒ Unhinge moulded headliner at rear.

• ‒ In order to remove cable at the moulded headliner leave the vehicle and while doing so carefully lower moulded headliner onto seats.
• ‒ Detach wiring harness from moulded headliner => Page 70-53
• ‒ Moulded headliner is removed and installed through open tailgate.

• ◆ Installing
• ‒ Carefully slide moulded headliner through tailgate.
• ‒ Attach wiring harness at moulded headliner => Page 70-53

Note:

Ensure to follow installation sequence, as otherwise roof trim cannot be centred.

• ‒ A second person is required to support the moulded headliner.
• ‒ Attach moulded headliner at rear.
• ‒ Attach moulded headliner at velcro fastening -12-.
• ‒ Attach centre sun visor -6-.
• ‒ Unclip trim frame for sliding/tilting roof -8-.
• ‒ Carry out remainder of installation in reverse order of removal.

• Sun visor
• ‒ Unclip sun visor -2- from bracket -5- unclip trim cap -10- and unscrew bolt -9-.

• Trim cap
• Bolts (2x)
• ‒ Tightening torque 2.5 Nm
• Sun visor bracket
• ‒ Lever off cap -3-.
• ‒ Remove bolts -4- (2x).
• Centre sun visor
• ‒ Unscrew bolt -7- and remove sun visor -6-.
• Bolt
• ‒ Tightening torque 2.5 Nm
• Frame trim for sliding roof
• Bolt

• Trim cap
• Bracket for interior light
• Velcro fastening strip at bracket
• Velcro fastening strip at moulded headliner
• ◆ If the velcro fastening strip detaches itself from the roof on removal attach velcro fastening strip at headliner on installation and press hard.
• Partition grille trim eyelet
• ◆ Removing => Fig.: 3

• ‒ Unclip caps starting from front.
• ‒ → Unscrew bolts -2- (2x).
• ‒ Remove cover -1- from front.
• ‒ Detach connectors.

• ◆ In vehicles without head airbag an adapter must be fitted => Page 70-52

• ‒ → Open cover -4- as far as possible.
• ‒ Remove bolts -5- (2x).
• ‒ Tightening torque 4 Nm
• ‒ Pull roof grab handle -1- with the prefixings -3- out of the retainers -6-.

•     3 -    Coat hook
• ‒ Coat hooks for rear roof grab handles
• ‒ Coat hook faces forward.

• ‒ Use screwdriver to push up roller at eyelet -1-.
• ‒ Unscrew bolt -5-.
• ‒ Tightening torque 4 Nm

Note:

Remove attachment eyelet together with trim -4- and moulded headliner -3-.

• ‒ After lowering moulded headliner onto seats release trim -4- from rear.
