Handbrake cable must not be pretensioned when performing basic setting (release handbrake).

To test:

• ‒ → Use screwdriver to alternately press levers for handbrake cable against ...

• ‒ → ... stop (see arrow).

If lever of opposite brake caliper is pulled off stop, then handbrake cable is excessively pretensioned.

Note:

For ease of illustration, stop is shown with brake caliper removed.

• ‒ → Loosen the adjusting nut for the handbrake cable using special tool -3343- until both levers make contact with the stop of the brake caliper.
