Removing

Notes:

  • ◆ Renew seals, gaskets and self-locking nuts.
  • ◆ The flexible pipe connection (de-coupling element) in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 °- otherwise it can be damaged.
  • ‒ → Unplug connectors -2- and -3- at air mass meter and ACF valve.
  • ‒ Pull ACF valve -1- off air cleaner housing.
  • ‒ Loosen bolt -arrow- and remove air cleaner housing together with air duct -4-.

  • ‒ → Remove noise insulation -arrows-.
  • ‒ Unscrew bolts accessible from below securing front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold.

A26-0151
  • ‒ → Unscrew lambda probe.
  • ‒ Unbolt front exhaust pipe -7- from exhaust manifold -5- and push it a short distance towards rear of vehicle.
  • ‒ Unbolt exhaust manifold from cylinder head.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:

A26-0151
  • ‒ → Renew exhaust manifold gaskets -2- and -6-.
  • ‒ Renew self-locking nuts -4- and -8-.
  • ‒ Fit washers -3- under nuts -4-.
  • ‒ Grease only the threads of the lambda probe with high-temperature lubricant "G 052 112 A3"; the lubricant must not get into the slots on the probe body.
  • ‒ Aligning exhaust system free of stress =>
