Removing

• ‒ → Remove engine cover panels -arrows-.

• ‒ → With ignition switched off, unscrew and unclip connector and earth wire from ignition coil with output stage -arrows-.
• ‒ Unbolt ignition coil and detach together with the two spark plug connectors.
• ‒ Remove toothed belt guard (upper) .

• ‒ → Loosen nuts and bolts -arrows- on cylinder head cover and remove cylinder head cover.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:

• ‒ → Carefully apply a small amount of sealant "D 454 300 A2" to both sides of sealing surfaces between double bearing cap and cylinder head -arrows- using a small screwdriver.

• ‒ Carefully apply a small amount of sealant "D 454 300 A2" to both sides of sealing surfaces between hydraulic chain tensioner and cylinder head (or between camshaft adjuster and cylinder head) -arrows- using a small screwdriver.

Note:

Replace gasket if damaged.

• ‒ Tighten nuts for cylinder head cover in diagonal sequence.
