• ‒ Read measured value block, Display Group 03, cold engine at idling speed .

• ‒ Observe readout in display zone 3.

• Specified result: The temperature reading should increase at a uniform rate.

If there is no realistic readout in display zone 3:

• ‒ Switch off ignition.
• ‒ → Pull off the connector on the sensor => Installation locations Overview, Page 24-4.
• ‒ Connect the V.A.G 1598/22 test box to the wiring harness for the engine control unit
  .

The following wiring connections should be checked for open circuits and/or short to positive or negative.

• ‒ Rectify short circuit or open circuit if necessary.

If no fault is detected in the wiring:

• ‒ Renew the sensor for coolant temperature (G62).
